SUN CITY ANTHEM COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, INC.
BILLIARDS CLUB QUARTERLY MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 15, 2024

The meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m. by president Cheryl Kraft. In attendance were 23 club members and
Cheryl Kraft, president; Beth Weddle, secretary; Hank Stuckrath, treasurer; and Crystal Whitehead, vice president.
Cheryl announced that Dzintra Landers is unable to serve as club treasurer. Hank Stuckrath, last year’s treasurer, has
agreed to continue in the job for another year.

Secretary’s Report:
Beth Weddle asked for a motion for approval of the minutes from the October 16, 2023, club meeting. Candi Van
Volkinburg made the motion, seconded by Ralph Patterson. The motion was unanimously approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Hank reported that the club’s current bank balance was $3,755.68. Expenses for the January 13 party were $2,827.21,
leaving about an $1100 balance. We currently have 139 members, 35 of whom have not paid dues for 2024, so we
should end up with $1400 to $1500 after those dues are collected. The only known upcoming expenses is to Fat Cow for
web protection.

A shout out and big thank you was given to Phil Ford for help on the website and Bill Hoover for his assistance with Fat
Cow.

Facilities Advisory Committee Update:
Beth reported in Rex Weddle’s absence that all the chairs were repaired and back in the Billiards Room.
Competition Committee Update:
No report this month.

Update on League Activity:
Cheryl opened discussion on several areas that were a problem last session in the Tuesday/Thursday league:
1. If your opponent asks you a question, you must answer truthfully.
2. Sideline talk is not allowed. You cannot say something that the players might hear. Only talking allowed is NOT
ABOUT THE GAME. Penalty for sideline talking is ball-in-hand for the other side.
3. Any player can call a time out even if player does not want it; however, it does count as a time out even if player
declines.
4. BE CORDIAL!
5. When two people are playing, it is their game.
6. Don’t take your stick apart until the game is finished. Doing so before the end of the game, is an automatic loss.
7. If less than a chalk width between cue ball and object ball, you must shoot at a 45 degree angle or draw the ball
back. Otherwise it is a push and results in ball-in-hand for your opponent.
In the 9-ball Thursday night league, we are making a change in the rules. You must call your pocket on the 9 ball only.
No more slop on the 9 ball. If you call a pocket, and the ball goes in a different pocket, the 9 ball is spotted.
League starts tomorrow. We will take off the week of February 25 due to Nationals. We will play the week of Easter so
if your team cannot play, please make arrangements with your opposing team to play a makeup.

Other Business:
Beth reported on the status of the M-W-F afternoon tournaments. Having lost two of our flight leaders recently, we are
down to one flight leader. The tournaments cannot continue without a few people stepping up to run the tournaments.
Beth asked for volunteers to be flight leaders or in the alternative for a number of people to volunteer to take turns
running tournaments occasionally. If we cannot come up with volunteers, tournaments will be cancelled.
Hearing no objections, the officers were unanimously elected.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:34 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Beth Weddle, Secretary
